Increased salivation “ptyalism” or excessive salivation is a less common pregnancy symptom which occurs generally during the first trimester and disappears after a few months. Ptyalism is more common in women who suffer from morning sickness. This unpleasant symptom may make you feel as if you need to spit all the time and may even interfere with swallowing. You may wake up to a damp pillow in the morning, from excessive spit dribbling out of your mouth during the course of the night.
